Being the curious soul I am, I decided to knit two separate squares to understand this better:
Stocking Stitch
So here’s how it goes:
- Row 1: Knit
- Row 2: Purl
Just keep cycling through these rows, and voilà, you have your stocking stitch!
Reverse Stocking Stitch
Now, for its mysterious twin:
- Row 1: Purl
- Row 2: Knit
And guess what? When I compared the two, they looked identical on the flip side!
But here’s where it gets interesting: the side we normally treat as the “wrong” side in knitting patterns can be the “right” side for some designs.
